Event: Windows 7 for Geeks

Yes we know you miss us a lot and so does we but the good thing is that we are back with the series of events for you in particular related to Windows 7, .NET Framework 4.0 and Visual Studio 2010.

So here we are with the first User Group event of 2010 “Windows 7 for Geeks”. Come and join us on to talk about Windows 7 from a Developers’ perspective.

Windows 7 Release Candidate Announcement

Microsoft has announced the Release Candidate (RC) of the highly anticipated Windows 7 operating system, now available for download to MSDN and TechNet subscribers. Broader public availability will begin May 5 on the Microsoft Windows 7 site. The RC milestone is a result of feedback from millions of customers and partners around the world. It indicates the operating system is entering the final phases of development and is ready for partners to develop new applications, device drivers and services, and ready for IT pros to evaluate Windows 7 and examine how it will operate in their environment.

Windows 7 beta Customer Preview Program

Microsoft upcoming version of client OS, Windows 7 beta,  is now available for IT Professionals for evaluation and testing purposes. You can download it from Microsoft TechNet website.

Minimum Recommended Hardware for System Running Windows 7 Beta:

  • Processor: 1 GHz 32-bit or 64-bit processor
  • Memory:  1 GB of system memory
  • Hard drive: 16 GB of available disk space
  • Video card:  Support for DirectX 9 graphics with 128MB memory (in order to enable Aero theme)
  • Drive: DVD-R/W drive
  • Internet connection (to download the Beta and get updates)

Note: Some product features of Windows 7, such as the ability to watch and record live TV or navigation through the use of “touch”, may require advanced or additional hardware.
